The Institute for Developmental Coaching is dedicated to supporting and nurturing growth and development of coaches and consultants in the coaching community of Asia-Pacific.
We are offering workshops and advanced training for coaches, consultants and leaders who use coaching skills in order to deepen their understanding, knowledge and ability to use developmental methodologies.
In the heart and core of our offering is the theory of Leadership Maturity Framework. LMF Developmental Coaching training is our flagship offering. LMF draws on theoretical models of adult developmental stages which have emerged from different fields of study, including psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, physics, politics and economics. As adult development is a live and organic process, so is our institute, encompassing both the rigour of scientific research and the openness and flexibility of open living systems.
The Leadership Maturity Framework is based on a body of research spanning more than fifty years, and has been in practical use for many years. Dr Jane Loevinger started her research and development of this theory in early ’60 and in the last 30 years it has been further researched, expanded, refined and re-defined by Dr Susanne Cook-Greuter. In the tradition of developmental stage models, Loevinger integrated several “frameworks of meaning-making” into a model of human’s constructive potentials that she called ego development. The essence of the ego is the striving to master, to integrate, and make sense of experience. The Leadership Maturity Framework is a theory which introduces to the field of leadership development the concept of action logics as increasingly complex and flexible systems of meaning making. It adds the developmental perspective (vertical transformation) to the training and development concept of growth as a horizontal expansion. It outlines the major shift from viewing people mostly as different types to also considering differences in the differentiation and integration of meaning making capacity.
Human development is about making sense of our experience in ever more complex and adequate ways.
As we name, interpret, ascribe value and meaning to our experience, and as we begin to see what we have not noticed before, we expand our worldview. A continuing capacity to renew the way we see and value, to question our assumptions, to reevaluate our interpretations, and to re-frame reality in more comprehensive ways lies at the heart of the developmental process.
We offer series of highly experiential trainings ranging from 1 to 6 day long workshops. The requirement for continuing with professional development trainings at our institute is attendance of our flagship LMF workshop. This workshop is arranged in two 3 day modules; the first introduces the Leadership Maturity Framework in individual and organizational context and the second module is focused on its application in developmental coaching practice.
We also provide supervision for practicing coaches, drawing on the best available research evidence from models in the caring professions as well as in coaching.
We contribute to the on-going professional development of coaches in a way which is consistent with the core competencies of the International Coach Federation, as well as being alive to coaching epistemology and new ideas. The full Leadership Maturity Framework workshop is accredited by the International Coach Federation for 35 continuing education units.
