The Institute for Developmental Coaching

There is little opportunity in this region to learn experientially about developmental stages and developmental coaching.  When loosely used, the term developmental is often generalised to mean any sort of development.  However, here it has a very specific meaning.  How can people develop their levels of maturity – from one stage to another?  There are a number of stage development theories, but one of the most widely used and researched is the Leadership Maturity Framework.

The Leadership Maturity Framework has been offered in Australia previously by Dr Susanne Cook-Grueter and Dr Maja Stanojevich-Andre, whose workshops are not just about transformation, they are transformational.  The newly established Institute for Developmental Coaching will now be offering opportunities to learn about the Leadership Maturity Framework, but also to learn more about adult developmental stages and, in particular, how these apply to coaching.  Not only  will the Institute be offering workshops, it will be offering supervision for coaches whose professional practice can be enhanced by a developmental perspective.

The Institute is brand new.  It will evolve, of course.  We hope you will join our evolution.

I look forward to becoming involved with the Institute for Developmental Coaching. My experience as a coaching professional and adult learning and development practitioner (in diverse settings and across a broad spectrum of age groups), has highlighted that the frantic pace of modern life, demands the balance of active conscious and insightful learning effort; further suggesting that experiential learning is more than ever required as a core developmental lifelong learning activity; in terms of enhancing self reflective pratcice for negotiating life chapter transitions, in a manner that realises integrated stages of transformational adult maturation.
